Club Status Update March 19th
As you will likely be aware, following the Government’s recent request that we all avoid unnecessary social contact the decision was made on March 17th to close the Club bar and restaurant and to suspend all bowling until further notice.
We appreciate that this will not be the news many of our members will have wanted to hear but it has now been confirmed by the EIBA as the strongly advised approach for all indoor clubs.
The Club will, however, remain accessible to members in the normal manner to collect belongings etc between the hours of 10am and 8pm Mondays to Thursdays until further notice, and from 10am to 3pm for the next two Sundays (March 22nd and 29th).
In the meantime, the Directors are busy taking what mitigating actions we can to minimise any adverse impact on the Club during this period. We have, for instance, shut off all unnecessary electrical usage, temporarily suspended unnecessary contractor services and we will be actively seeking any financial support available to us as recently announced by the Government.
The Bowling Committee have also been busy considering the most appropriate handling of our various unfinished club leagues and competitions, etc. Please see your website for further information, including the handling of next season’s National and County competition applications.
Finally, but most importantly, we will all want to wish our members well during the potentially difficult weeks ahead. To this end we are now actively phoning members who may be vulnerable during this period to check they are ok and to urge them to contact us if they find themselves in the position of needing some support.
If you are concerned about the current or future welfare of any fellow members do please let us know and we will ensure they are contacted. Send us a message on the website, email the Club or leave a message on the answer phone (usual Club number).
Similarly, if you feel you may be able to provide some support to fellow members in need, eg to do some shopping, visit the pharmacy or just have a chat on the phone now and then do please let us know and we will alert you to any members in potential need of support in your area. Again send us a message on the website, email the Club or leave a message on the Club answer phone.
At these difficult times we can all take comfort in the friendships we develop through a club like ours.
Further regular updates will be posted on your club website and on your social media.
